Powers-- Uatu possess the seemingly omnipotent powers as much of his race-- powers of telepathy, telekinesis, and other cosmically attuned senses and awareness as well as teleportation, force field generation, communications, energy manipulation, and invulnerability on a cosmic scale. Uatu also has access to technology far beyond the limits of human understanding.

History-- Uatu belongs to a race of Watchers, born the son of the Watcher known as Ikor, who believed that superior races should help those less advanced. Uatu followed his father's advice, sharing technology with a "backward" planet, Prosicillus. Later, Prosicillus was destroyed due to nuclear war which led the Watchers to develp their "non-involvement" code of behavior and began their role in the universe as observers.

Much later, Uatu decided to observe Earth's solar system, settling on the Blue Area of our moon during an unspecified time in our pre-history. He first revealed himself to humans centuries (if not milleniums) later by saving the Fantastic Four from the Red Ghost. He allowing the Four to retain the memories of himself, and even directly aided them on other occasions, including during Reed and Sue's wedding and Galactus's appearance.

Later, though, the Watchers created a trial for Uatu 's breeches of the Watcher's code. He defended himself by saying that interferences allowed him to emotionally observe the actions of humans. Released on his own recognizance, Uatu vowed again not to directly interfere with human events. That hasn't, of course, stopped him from appearing enigmatically as a warning to Earth's heroes to subtly influence various outcomes.
