Powers: Ixar is essentially humanoid in form, and does not appear to possess any superhuman powers. He possesses control and mastery of various forms of advanced technology, including an interstellar ship, various energy weapons, the Ultroids, and his own robot (see below). He can control many of these by thought.
History: (Av37(fb))-<as detailed by Ultrana>-"For
millennia, a thermonuclear war of cosmic proportions was waged between the
Sirians and the inhabitants of a nearby star system. Finally, both worlds used
up their enormous supplies of fissionable material...and were reduced to
carrying on the deadly power struggle with more basic weapons...
Finally, except for the two
leaders, all humans on both worlds had perished--for, only an artificial being
could hope to survive such prolonged pitched combat. Thus it became Ultroid
against Ultroid....And then, a short time ago, came the climactic battle...as
the Ultroids of our foe penetrated the palace of Ixar and were driven out only
after inflicting a heavy toll...However, Ixar was dying...and there remained
open to him only one possibility for life." His mind was transferred into
computers constructed by his ancestors. " But, when the complex
transferal was completed, the immortal mind of Ixar conceived a bold new
plan..." They searched the Galaxy, intent on finding a race of humans who
possess superhuman abilities, which he could siphon into his Ultroids. "For many
of your years, our quest was fruitless! Yet one day, we entered the solar system
of a medium range star--and found...your planet Earth!"
(Av36(fb))-Ixar's ship landed in Transia, where he captured, impersonated, and apparently slew the Burgomeister (along the lines of a Burgomaster, the chief magistrate of some towns in Europe). Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were in Transia at the time, and investigated the ship. They were both neutralized and captured. Ultrana impersonated the Scarlet Witch and traveled to the USA to bring the Avengers.
(Av36, 37)-The Avengers and the Black Widow traveled to Transia walked into Ixar's trap (Cap suspected as much, but risked it to rescue their fallen comrades). Ixar, in the form of a massive supercomputer, claimed to be holding the Burgomeister hostage. The Ultroids captured the Avengers, except Hawkeye and the Black Widow, although there were a few breakouts. Ultimately, Ixar drained the power of the Ultroids into one massive robot, which attacked and defeated the escaped Avengers. Hawkeye correctly deduced that the "Burgomeister" was actually Ixar himself, and threatened his form instead. Ixar, however, recalled a comment that the Avengers were pledged never to take a life, and called his bluff. The Black Widow then repeated the threat herself, since she was not an Avenger at the time, and bound by no such oath. Ixar agreed to take his ship and leave Earth in peace. He left to find another planet with superhumans that he could tap.

The race at war with the Sirians was ever identified (other than
being described as humans...most likely a humanoid extra-terrestrial race, much
like the Sirians themselves. They also had their own version of the Ultroids).
They are listed as unrevealed in the Sirians' entry in the OHotMU Deluxe
Edition#15 (1986).
In X-Men I#21, Lucifer details the defeat of the Sirians
by Dominus, the planet-conquering weapon of the Quist. The Sirians' entry in the
OHotMU also details Lucifer's statement further:
"The Sirians originated
on Sirus III, but had a colony on Sirus IV. The Sirians of Sirius III were
destroyed in an interstellar war with an unrevealed alien race. The Sirians of
the colony world were conquered by the Quists. The one known Sirian to escape
domination was the renegade Ixar, who came to Earth with the intent of conquest
and was repulsed by the Avengers..."
In X-Men Index#1 (1994),
detailing X-Men I#21, and Avengers Index#1 (1994), detailing Avengers
I#37, are both consistent with the OHotMU entry.
Ultrana's story doesn't
quite jibe with this info, but since the information regarding Ixar's
mind-transfer into the computer was false...or was it?...who knows? I guess the
OHotMU would be a more reliable source than either of two aliens out to conquer
Earth, but it's been wrong before, too.
I'd like to see a follow up on
this...it's been over 35 years now...anyone...anyone...Bueller...
Clarifications: The Sirians (i.e. Ixar), the
humanoid natives of Sirus III and IV, of the Sirius star system, should be
differentiated from:

The Ultroids are "far more than
androids--They are the Ultroids--the strongest and most tireless of the many
weapons of Ixar." They possess some degree of superhuman strength (enhanced
human) and durability. They are intelligent, but primarily follow the orders of
Ultrana, or Ixar himself. In addition, the machines of Ixar can analyze and
duplicate the energies of super-powered beings, and transfer that energy into
each of the Ultroids. They never demonstrated any more than an occasional burst
of speed after adapting the powers of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch,
though.
Ixar converted all of the Ultroids into energy and absorbed them into
his robot. He presumably can make more.
Ultrana is an Ultroid in feminine
form. She didn't get involved in much of the combat, but acted more as his
second in command. She seemed much more intelligent than the other Ultroids. In
addition, she demonstrated the ability to duplicate the form of others. It was
Ultrana who impersonated the Scarlet Witch to draw the Avengers in Ixar's trap.
She was convincing enough to fool them, until she made a comment about
possessing ESP, with a radar-like sense.
Ultrana was also absorbed to power
Ixar's robot, but it seems likely that she could be recreated.
Ixar's robot is a giant Ultroid, powered by the sum total of the energy of all of the other Ultroids. It stands over 15' tall and possesses at least Class 25 strength, and a high degree of durability. It could release powerful force blasts and bursts of electricity. It proved vulnerable to a hex from the Scarlet Witch that targeted its delicate control mechanisms, but it also has the capacity for rapid self-repair, enabling it to recover in minutes. It's primary weakness is Ixar himself, who controls the robot mentally, but lacks any other personal defenses.
